Interactive Music and Movement Games: Making Connections through Play

The first musical instrument is the human body. We are all born with the capacity to play music, intuitively, through our physical movements. What happens, then, when your musical training incorporates your intuitive capacity for musical play? More freedom and spontaneity, more personal authenticity, and more interpersonal connection with others. In this workshop, William Bauer shows how teachers in all fields can design experiences that empower their students to tap into the body of knowledge they have already acquired, intuitively, through lived experiences. Come and explore music through movement, using the interactive approach to music teaching and learning developed by Emile Jaques-Dalcroze, known as Eurhythmics. Come dressed comfortably, ready to kick off your shoes and move through the Dance Studio (where wearing shoes is not allowed).
