Arts and Sciences at University of Haifa, Israel

Overview

University of Haifa offers spring and fall semester terms and summer program opportunities with a comprehensive public health, neurosciences, bioinformatics, marine sciences, and education offering.  Over 18,000 students from a wide range of ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds are enrolled at the University of Haifa, the largest research university in northern Israel, and the most pluralistic institution of higher education in the country.

The International School at the University of Haifa provides a wholistic perspective on living, balanced with the city life and nature. The university campus creates a harmony bridging these two seemingly opposite geographical sceneries. The nature filled metropolitan echoes the diversity that is a theme running through the University walls. With varying architectural styles from different eras, the campus is a pinnacle of knowledge embedded along the Carmel mountain top.

You can see semester and summer programs and courses offered here.

Living

Students who study full-time in the International School are welcome to live in the student dormitories on campus. There are two dormitory complexes that are open to international students.

  • Federman Double Dorms have shared apartments with 3 double bedrooms, shared bathroom/shower and shared common area.
  • Talia Dorms include shared apartments with 6 private bedrooms, private shower/bathroom, and shared common area.

Students can choose which set of dormitories they would prefer. Please note that during our summer programs, our single rooms fill up quickly and students who request to live in the Talia dormitories will be accommodated on a first come, first serve basis.

About 1,000 students live in the dorms at the University of Haifa, including students of all social, economic, religious, and ethnic backgrounds. The dormitory campus is integrated with Israeli students. Individual dorm suites may house both Israeli and/or International students. We will try our utmost to fulfill your accommodation requests.

All apartments in the dorms are single-sex. In your room you will be provided with a single bed, desk, closet, and shelves.

Located in the dormitories complex are self-service laundry rooms and a grocery store. All public spaces in the dormitories have WIFI Internet connections. In addition, there is a "moadon" or "club" with a large-screen television which often hosts parties, workshops, lectures, and other activities.

For more details you can visit the Dorms Website: https://dekanat.haifa.ac.il/dorms/

Exploring

Students who choose to study abroad in Israel and join our program will have an experience they will never forget! Our wide range of special track programs and courses fulfills any student's academic interest. Courses at the International School are taught in English by faculty from various departments within the University of Haifa.

Haifa is located in the northers sea shore on top of the Carmel mountain in Israel, looking over the Mediterranean. Haifa is very safe. It’s a mixed city where everyone lives in co-existence and the general atmosphere is very good. On the campus itself we have security guards and security measures 24/7 so it feels extremely safe. Haifa itself is located far from the places you hear about on the news

Student Life

The International School employs full-time Madrichim (or "Social Activities Coordinators") who build and implement an exciting social activities program. The Madrichim live on campus, and it is their responsibility to assist you in immersing yourself in campus life as much as possible. All social activities planned by the International School are included in the tuition fee, so we encourage you to take advantage of them. These range from movie nights, Haifa city tours, a night downtown, bowling outings, holiday celebrations, and more. Activities planned by outside providers, but advertised for you through the University may have a charge. Whichever activities you choose to get involved in, you are guaranteed to have an amazing social, cultural and educational experience here at the International School in the University of Haifa!
